Built with strength and durability in mind, the bolt is manufactured from heavy-duty 9310 alloy steel, while the bolt carrier is made from 8620 case-hardening aircraft-grade steel. 9310 steel offers high core strength, excellent fatigue strength, and high hardenability. Commonly used in demanding applications such as gears and crankshafts, it is well suited for use in an AR bolt.
Why 9310 instead of Mil-Spec Carpenter 158 steel? When properly heat-treated, 9310 offers excellent strength, durability, and wear resistance. The 8620 steel carrier also provides excellent toughness and overall strength. Combined with precision machining, these materials produce a durable BCG designed for 5.56×45 NATO/.223 Remington and .300 Blackout AR platforms.
The 5.56×45 NATO/.223 Rem/.300 Blackout Bolt Carrier Group features a Salt Black Nitride finish for excellent durability, wear resistance, and corrosion protection. This full-auto M16-profile, direct-impingement BCG incorporates several features designed for reliability and long service life.
The BCG is Magnetic Particle Inspected (MPI) for quality control and manufactured to Mil-Spec standards. It features a Mil-Spec 8740 steel hard-chromed firing pin, a Mil-Spec gas key secured with properly staked Grade 8 screws and sealed with Permatex No. 3, and a shot-peened, case-hardened D2 tool steel extractor.
Salt Black Nitride Finish
The Salt Black Nitride treatment provides a dark, subdued appearance while increasing surface hardness, wear resistance, durability, and corrosion resistance without significantly altering the dimensions of the bolt carrier.
